The leak came to light after numerous users on X.com from the affected region reported symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, raising alarm about a possible radiological event. In response, authorities have urged residents in nearby areas to evacuate temporarily as a precaution. Authorities have confirmed that there are no casualties till now, and severely affected individuals are being sent to the Islamabad hospital.

While the leak is said to be due to a mechanical failure, a clear report is yet to be released. The precautionary zone, initially set at 300 metres, has been reduced to 30 metres as of May 13. No significant environmental hazard has been reported.

Some reports are also claiming that India, during a recent airstrike in Pakistan, may have targeted the Kirana Hills, a region known to house sensitive nuclear facilities. However, there has been no official confirmation of such a strike. The Indian government has firmly denied these claims, stating that the Indian Air Force (IAF) did not conduct any operations involving Kirana Hills.

India and Pakistan are currently under a ceasefire, which was mediated by US President Donald Trump. Earlier, there were fights across the border with drones and missiles. Even after the ceasefire, Pakistan did not put down its arms and kept throwing missiles at India. In response, India attacked 11 military & air force bases of Pakistan on the night of Sunday.
