YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra Among 6 Detained for Pakistan Espionage

Six people were arrested for spying for Pakistan during a police operation. One of them is Jyoti Malhotra, a travel blogger from Haryana who makes videos on YouTube. The others are Guzala, Yameen, Arman, and Devinder Singh Dhillon. This spy group mainly worked in the Haryana and Punjab areas. They acted as agents, shared information, and helped with money transfers for spying.

Jyoti Malhotra – From Youtuber to Traitor

The most notable arrest in the recent spy network bust is Jyoti Malhotra, a popular YouTuber known for her channel “Travel with Jo,” which has 377,000 subscribers on YouTube and 132,000 followers on Instagram. Jyoti was taken into custody on Saturday after authorities discovered she was sharing sensitive and classified information with Pakistani intelligence agencies. Due to the serious nature of her actions, she has been charged under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets Act. The case highlights concerns over social media being misused for espionage.

Jyoti Malhotra

Jyoti Malhotra first connected with a man named Danish, who worked at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. Through Danish’s help, she visited Pakistan twice in 2023, obtaining her visas via commission agents. Danish also introduced her to several Pakistan Intelligence officers (PIOs). One of these officers was Shakir, whose contact was saved on Jyoti’s phone under the name “Jatt Randhawa.” After these introductions, Jyoti began passing sensitive details and critical location updates to Pakistani handlers. She even used her social media platforms to promote a positive image of Pakistan. Allegedly Jyoti Malhotra also had intimate relations with one of the PIOs with whom she visited Bali and Indonesia.

Who were The other five?

Another accused, 32-year-old Guzala was drawn in by Danish’s fake marriage promise; he sent her money and she passed along local details. Yameen Mohammad of Malerkotla managed financial transactions and arranged visas for contacts. Devinder Singh Dhillon, a student from Kaithal, independently filmed and sent footage of Patiala Cantonment. Arman supplied Indian SIM cards to various handlers so they could communicate without tracing. Each of these individuals worked separately to feed information or resources to Pakistani intelligence across Haryana and Punjab.

The statement from Indian Officials

Indian officials have said that the investigation is still underway and more people could be involved in the spy network. This case has turned into a major scandal, showing how vulnerable and unsuspecting individuals from different social and religious backgrounds were targeted. The accused were reportedly manipulated through emotional tactics, fake promises of marriage, and financial lures. Authorities believe that these methods were used to gain their trust and get access to sensitive information. All six accused have been formally charged, and during questioning, they have confessed to their roles in the spying activities. Further arrests are likely as the probe deepens.
