A Lok Sabha member who is close to the DMK leader Kanimozhi Karunanidhi clarified that the flight was delayed by 45 minutes due to a drone attack mid-air. After the delay, the flight landed safely on the Domodedovo International Airport where the Multi-party MP delegation was received by Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar and other officials

The Multi party Delgation

On May 17, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs announced that India will send 7 groups of Members of Parliament (MPs) to different countries. These groups will include MPs from different political parties. Their main purpose is to speak with world leaders and explain India’s strong stand against terrorism.

This decision was taken after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. India wants to show the world that it has a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, especially terrorism that is funded and supported by Pakistan. The goal of these visits is to make the international community understand the danger of terrorism and ask for their support to fight it together.

The 7 MP groups will visit 33 countries in total. Each group has been given a list of countries where they will go and deliver India’s message. Out of the 15 United Nations Security Council (UNSC) members, Indian delegations will visit 12 countries. The only countries they will not visit are Pakistan, Somalia, and China. China is a permanent member of the UNSC while Pakistan and Somalia are non-permanent members

This step has been taken to show India’s strength in standing up to terrorism and to make the global community more aware of the threat it poses. India also hopes to gain support from other countries to join together in the fight against terrorism.
