Google I/O 2025: What are the new announcements from Google?

This year’s Google I/O 2025 conference, similar to the previous year, has again taken place at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California, on 20th and 21st May. The fun & innovative date revelation

Like always, Google announces its I/O date in a mysterious but interactive way through fun and engaging Puzzles. This year, Google introduced the “Save the Date Puzzle,” which became a fun and interactive game that engaged users and resulted in curiosity building up. In this mysterious Puzzle, you have to illuminate the hidden beacons with the beam of light by bending and redirecting through prisms. After unlocking various stages, you finally win the game and reveal the date.

Key announcements from the Google I/O 2025

The Google I/O 2025 was dominated by AI advancements. There was the inclusion of AI in most of Google’s products, signifying Google’s AI-first strategy. The major highlights were the introduction of the AI mode , Google Flow, Google AI Ultra, Android XR, Google Beam, SynthID Detector, and many others. Google also introduced newer versions of its AI products with advancements such as Gemini 2.5, Imagen 4, Veo 3, Deepthink, and many more. Along with these, Google also shared its future products, which are at the trial stage, like Google embedding Gemini with shopping, where you can share your picture, and Google will tell you how that dress looks on you, by generating an image of you wearing the same dress.

The New Tools

AI Mode: This feature introduces a new tab in the Google search results, which will provide AI-generated results. With users switching to ChatGPT for searching. Google is also introducing a similar thing so that users can get quick and well-researched results in one go.

Google Flow: An AI Filmmaking tool that enables users to generate videos by sewing multiple clips. This tool also offers sound integration that helps it stand out from other tools offering similar features.

Google Beam: A 3D video conferencing tool that will make virtual meetings more in-person-like. Beam also includes features like live speech translation, image, and sound display with depth. Google is planning to collaborate with platforms like Zoom and HP to introduce Beam to workplaces

SynthID Detector: A tool that detects AI-generated content. Using this, you can check for the authenticity of images, videos, and texts just by uploading them on the portal, and the tool will look for Watermarks; if found, it will give you a clear indication of where it is present.

Android XR: Virtual glasses with a microphone and camera inserted that can help you stay updated with your work while walking around. There is Gemini integration as well, in which the AI hears and sees what you do and gives immediate responses with context.

Project Astra was a major highlight as well, in which you only need to point your camera towards an object you want to scan, and by giving text or voice prompts, you can get a quick solution to it.

Google Gemini 2.5

Google I/O 2025

After the launch of Gemini 2.5 pro in March, Google brings more features to the model following the announcements made at the Google I/O 2025. The 2.5 pro version is already making its mark in Academic research. LM arena & Deepthink will be integrated, which specialises in solving complex coding and tough reasoning. Overall, the new Gemini is a boon to the developer community.

Veo 3 and Imagen 4 are also being integrated to provide much better quality images and video

Gemini 2.5 also comes with a Large language model that helps it tackle manipulative prompts that could trick the AI into releasing private information and confidential documents. This makes Gemini 2.5 the most secure model.
